INCIGHT, OREGON DISABILITY CHAMBER TEAM UP

TO PRESENT YODA

Oregon Disability Chamber

September 22, 2009 (Portland, Ore.) –Are you interested in starting your own business? Do you have an idea to improve the economy? Do you have a disability? Are you between the ages of 16 and 21? The Youth Oregon Disabilities Association (YODA) program is here to help you develop the skills to start your business and become an entrepreneur.

Incight and the Oregon Disability Chamber are co-creating a program that will will empower youth to create ideas, work in teams, develop businesses and secure start-up funding. Participants will hear from speakers and learn life changing perspectives. Each organization is seeking interested individuals to contact them and sign up to participate.

Yoda was one of the most renowned and powerful Jedi Masters known for his wisdom, mastery of the force and skills in combat. By utilizing Yoda as a metaphor, students in the Portland metropolitan area will gain understanding on the wisdom necessary in building a business, the ability to master the unknown, and entrepreneurship.

The Yoda program is a platform that will engage youth in a way that makes the impossible task of being an entrepreneur possible. This program will open the door of opportunity by providing the environment, tools and encouragement to expect more of them self and out of life. The project will set out a paradigm shift in the city of Portland where more can be expected of those with disabilities.

Funding for this program is provided by Vision Into Action. To learn about YODA, visit www.incight.org/Yoda.php.
